Factors Leading to Powder Combustion and Explosions

创建于2023.11.06
There are various factors that can cause powder combustion and explosions, mainly including the following aspects:
  1. Exceeding the Lower Explosive Limit of Dust Concentration:
Due to the reasons mentioned earlier, if the dust concentration in the spray booth or workshop exceeds the lower explosive limit, it creates the primary condition for powder combustion and explosions. When combined with an appropriate ignition source, combustion and explosions become highly likely.
  1. Mixing Powder and Paint Workspaces:
In some factories, due to limited floor space, powder coating and paint application areas may be incorrectly combined in the same workshop. Both sets of equipment are placed side by side or on the same production line. At times, solvent-based paints and powder coating systems are used interchangeably. This mixing of operations can lead to the presence of flammable gases from paint fumes and airborne powder dust in the workshop, creating a highly hazardous mixture that poses a greater risk of combustion and explosion.
  1. Ignition Sources:
Various ignition sources can trigger powder combustion. The following situations are the most common sources of ignition:
